We believe in the value of sharing the experiences of discovery in our natural and cultural world, and our instructors are skilled communicators. The three individuals below are lead VO guides.

Iann Sanchez
Featured in Lonely Planet's Panama Travel Guide, Iann is one of the premier Panamanian naturalist guides, and is a native of Panama. He has a Bachelors Degree in geology from Washington State University in the states, and has been leading ecological tours and adventures in Panama for 10 years. His experience included working as a forest ranger in several U.S. National Parks. He is skilled in bird and plant identification, and is considered by many to be Panama’s premier kayaking guide.

Dave Fornander
Dave has a huge amount of experience leading adventure expeditions around the world, including whitewater rafting and river kayaking in Idaho, and sea kayak and river expeditions in central America and Mexico. In addition, he holds an M.A. in Biology with research experience with ecotourism and geography, and has many years of experience teaching university field studies programs throughout the Caribbean, Latin America and South Pacific, in conjunction with San Francisco State University, the Institute for Cultural Ecology, and the University of Arizona. He’s also an experienced skier.

Dave Santillo
Dave is a natural history guide. He has a Ph.D. in wildlife and forest ecology, and his areas of expertise include bird and plant identification, coastal and forest ecology, mammals and herp’s and as Dave likes to say…..just too many other natural things to list! He’s an experienced sea kayaker, canoeist, and hiker, who has led tours in New England and Central America. He also has taught classes ranging from wildlife management techniques to wetland ecology.
