PROGRAMS
VENTURE OUTSIDE programs take college and university students on 2 to 10 week expeditions to Panama. These expeditions incorporate expeditionary
coursework with, in some cases, an added 2-week internship. The projects are fully outfitted with the technological, research and expedition equipment
necessary for successful completion of the program. All equipment needed by the students will be provided, with the exception of personal items.
During the expedition, students study cultural, political, physical and biological Geography, Natural Resources, Spanish and Outdoor Recreation.
In addition, they are exposed to an array of other experiences that are not possible in the conventional classroom.
Programs consist of online pre-expedition training that includes destination profiles, health requirements and an introduction of text and field guides for
preliminary readings and study. Students also receive a pack list, fitness regimen and additional information to properly prepare them for the coming
expedition.
To extend the learning experience students may take part in two week credited internship programs. Selections for internships encompass a wide variety
of areas including, but not limited to: rainforest and marine research, environmental education, eco-tourism and natural resource economies. These
internships are directed and supervised by an on-site leader associated with the organization offering the internship experience.
