Moose Safari

Maine hosts the highest population of this largest member of the deer family, and each year thousands of visitors come to Maine just for a glimpse of this magnificent creature. We’ll give you that, and much more. Rather than just a windshield tour, we’ll get out and canoe and hike among these creatures – always maintaining a safe and un-intrusive distance. Our trips are scheduled during the fall rut, when moose are in their prime, most active and most susceptible to calling. You’ll watch as our experienced guides work to call moose into camera and binocular range, see bulls courting cows and sparring with one another for the right to perpetuate the species. We’ll introduce you to the ecology and behavior of these fascinating creatures, and discuss how the species is being managed for the benefit of both human and wildlife populations.
